Mohamed Salah Named Premier League Player of the Season

Amid widespread celebration from Liverpool fans, Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah continues to make history after being crowned the Premier League Player of the Season for 2024-2025. This marks the second time Salah has received this prestigious award, placing him among an elite group of players such as Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, and Nemanja Vidić — all of whom have won the accolade multiple times.
Egyptian sports broadcaster Ahmed Shobeir expressed his pride in Salah’s achievement during a radio appearance, stating:
“Mohamed Salah is officially the best player in the Premier League according to the league’s association. Salah truly performs miracles — Egypt has never seen a footballer like him.”
“What he has done for Egypt deserves to be immortalized with a statue. He should be honored with the highest national award. Congratulations to Salah.”
Despite his domestic triumph, Shobeir voiced his regret that Salah missed out on the European Golden Shoe, having been edged out by Kylian Mbappé, who scored twice for Real Madrid in their latest match.
Salah Tops the List of Premier League’s Best 50 Players for 2024-2025
Mohamed Salah claimed the No. 1 spot on the Premier League’s list of the Top 50 Players of the Season, featuring big names like Alexander Isak, Virgil van Dijk, Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice. The list included players from 15 different clubs, showcasing the depth and diversity of talent in the league over the past nine months.
The 2024-2025 season was especially memorable for Liverpool fans, who witnessed their team lift the title at Anfield for the first time in 35 years. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest exceeded all expectations, regardless of whether they secure Champions League qualification.
In contrast, supporters of Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham endured a forgettable campaign, hoping for a stronger comeback next season.
Salah's Record-Breaking Season: 28 Goals and Counting
With 28 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League, Salah stands as the most productive attacking player this season, well ahead of his closest rival, Alexander Isak (29 total goal contributions). He also surpasses Jacob Murphy, the second-best assist provider (12 assists).
Salah is now on the verge of breaking the all-time single-season goal contribution record of 47, held jointly by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole. He needs just two more contributions in the final match against Crystal Palace to surpass it.
Furthermore, Salah has become the Premier League’s all-time top foreign scorer, with 185 goals, overtaking Sergio Agüero (184) — another remarkable feat in his legendary career.
Staying at Anfield: Salah Eyes More Titles
Despite receiving lucrative offers from Saudi club Al Hilal, Salah signed a contract extension with Liverpool until 2027, affirming his commitment to stay for at least one more season.
In an interview with the Football Writers' Association, Salah said:
“I’m here because we won the league and I had a direct impact on that. I hope to win this award again next season. I want to win the Premier League again — and also the Champions League.”
Double Delight for Liverpool: Gravenberch Named Young Player of the Season
Salah wasn’t the only Liverpool star to shine this season. Ryan Gravenberch, the Dutch midfielder, was named the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season, beating a talented field that included William Saliba (Arsenal), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Dean Huijsen, Liam Delap, and João Pedro.
Gravenberch had an exceptional campaign, leading all Liverpool players in ball recoveries and ranking first among midfielders in successful tackles (59).
This is Salah’s second Player of the Season award, having first claimed it in 2017-2018. The honor is determined by a combined vote from fans and a panel of football experts.
Notably, this is the first time since the 2018-2019 season that no Manchester City player has won the Player of the Season award.
